The 20 yard in detail
Dimensions: 22 ft long × 8 ft wide × 4.5 ft high
Holds about: 7 to 8 pickup truck loads
Weight allowance: 3 to 4 tons included, with the overage rate per ton quoted at booking
If we had to run one container size, this would be it. The 20 yard covers the widest range of real jobs: a re-roof, a kitchen, a whole-house clearout, a rental property refurnish. Twenty-two feet long, eight wide, four and a half high — enough capacity for genuine volume without the sides getting so tall that loading becomes a chore.
For roofing it is the standard recommendation on single-layer asphalt shingle up to roughly thirty squares. Two layers, or a larger roof, and you are looking at a 30 yard or a swap partway through.
The one thing a 20 yard is not for is dense material. Fill it with concrete, brick or tile and you will be dramatically overweight before it looks half full. That is what the 10 and 15 are for.
Best suited to
- Asphalt shingle roof tear-offs up to about 30 squares
- Full kitchen renovations
- Whole-house cleanouts and estate clearances
- Large flooring and carpet removal
- Interior strip-outs and remodels
- Vacation rental refurnishing
What to choose something else for
- Concrete, block or masonry loads
- Barrel tile roof tear-offs
- New construction framing on a large build
- Full structural demolition
Local note. This is the container we drop most often for rental property turnovers around the university, where the material is bulky but light — mattresses, futons, flat-pack furniture and flooring. It is equally the default for a re-roof in Cinco Ranch, Sealy or Bear Creek.

Call and describe the job. If a different size suits it better we will say so — we would rather send the right container than the more expensive one.

Every container we place is priced as a single flat rate covering delivery, the rental period, collection and disposal up to the stated weight allowance. We tell you the per-ton overage rate before you book, so if your load does come in heavy there is no surprise on the invoice.
What genuinely moves the price is the size and the density of the material, not the label on the job. Our pricing guide breaks the whole thing down.
